Apply and Register here for Q 2009, April 27-29. Once your application is submitted, it will be personally reviewed and approved. If we have further questions we will contact you. We have instituted this simple application process, at the time of registration, in order to better acquaint ourselves with your goals and expectations during your Q experience. We strive to create an environment where all participants are contributing to the conversations and collaboration; by getting to know more about you and your vision, we may also understand more about how we can best serve you.
For students and church planters interested in Q, we have a limited number of tickets available at a discounted rate. If you received a scholarship last year, you will not be eligible for a scholarship this year. For more information on this please email info@fermiproject.com and share your story.
We’re privileged to be hosting Q 2009 at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas. The Paramount Theatre has stood on Congress Avenue in the heart of downtown Austin for nearly 100 years. Originally conceived as a Vaudeville and variety house, it continues to bring a wide array of programming to its beautiful stage. The Paramount presents comedy, drama, music, dance, spoken word, children’s programming, and films to thousands each year. And as a historical treasure, it’s one of the few remaining ‘hemp houses,’ using ropes and sandbags, left in America.
The Paramount Theatre plays a significant role in the many communities that make Austin unique. It is home to Austin’s red carpet film premieres, South by Southwest (SXSW) and the Austin Film Festival. In short, the Paramount serves as the anchor for the Austin arts community.

Can I get a schedule for the event?
Q will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, April 27th and conclude around 12:00 pm on Wednesday, April 29th. We will not be making a schedule for the event public until you arrive at Q. Lunch will occur around noon each day and dinner will occur around 6 pm. Please assume all other times will be filled with programming and collaboration. All times are tentative and subject to change.
Will participants have the opportunity to interact with the presenters?
Yes, most of the presenters will be joining us as learners as well. Some can only be with us for their presentation, but many will be available for a Talkback discussion that is smaller and more conducive for Question and Answer.
Is food included in the price?
Food will be largely on your own. There are numerous restaurants in the area as local food establishments are one of the areas that Austinites take great pride in. Coffee and water will be provided and available throughout the event.
Registration
How does Q select who will receive an invitation?
In the spirit of the diversity represented at Q, we look for several things when reviewing new applications: first, a desire to be informed and exposed to future culture; second, the potential and hope for influence that will shape the church today and in the future; and third, an eagerness to learn and gain knowledge from others with differing worldviews who share the same desire to shape our generation and culture.
Do I have to fill out information for all of the attendees in my group?
Yes. We like to personalize as much of Q as possible which requires as much accurate information about attendees as possible. We need to have all attendee information by March 1 or attendees may not receive personalized nametags or have their information displayed in the Q book provided to all participants.
Are there any scholarships available?
For students and church planters interested in Q, we have a limited number of tickets available at a discounted rate. If you received a scholarship last year, you will not be eligible for a scholarship this year. For more information on this or to apply for a scholarship please email info@fermiproject.com and share your story.
Can I get a refund?
Full refunds less a $200 cancellation fee will be provided for anyone who chooses to cancel their registration on or before February 23. Refunds will not be provided for anyone canceling after February 23, 2009. Tickets are transferable at anytime. Please update your registration with information for new attendees should you choose to transfer tickets. You do not need to contact Fermi Project to transfer a ticket.
Transportation
Do I provide my own transportation to and from the event?
Yes, each participant is responsible for there own transportation to Austin and to the event venue each day. We recommend lodging at a hotel downtown so that you can walk to the event and local restaurants easily. Many nearby hotels offer shuttle service to and from the airport, so you may not need to rent a car at all. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities or use public transportation as much as possible. Please see the transportation section for details on air travel.
Volunteer
How can I volunteer for Q?
Over fifty volunteers are required to create the Q experience. If you are interested in volunteering for Q, please click here and complete the registration form. You will be notified by December 31st if your application has been accepted. Thank you for your interest in partnering with us on this event.

We recommend flying into Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). It’s about a twenty-minute drive from the airport to downtown Austin via rental car or cab. Many hotels offer shuttle service. Or you can take a Capital Metro Transit bus (Airport Flyer route 100) from the airport to the 6th and Brazos stop (about 2 blocks from the Paramount Theatre).
Visit the Capital Metro Transit website for a schedule of specific times at http://www.capmetro.org/riding/schedules.asp?f1=100
For more information on Austin Bergstrom International Airport, visit http://www.abia.com.
Another option is to fly into San Antonio International Airport (SAT), which is about an hour and fifteen minutes from downtown Austin. Sometimes, flights can be considerably less expensive to San Antonio making the longer drive worth it.
