Introducing Q Sessions
Boutique events with access to some of the world's most experienced authorities
by
Q Ideas
Once a year, Q has hosted a national Gathering in a new city, carefully chosen with the intent to bring together leaders from the channels of media, education, politics, arts and entertainment, business, the social sector, and the church.
This fall, Q will introduce a new type of event called
Q Sessions
to support and educate leaders on topics that are both timely and critical to cultural renewal. These boutique events are much smaller than our Gatherings and will offer private access to some of the world's most respected and experienced authorities on subjects of paramount importance. Through Q Sessions, participants will gain firsthand learning, interaction, and collaboration with other like-minded friends who care about advancing the common good in every sphere of society.
The first of these events will be
Q Sessions | Epiphany
, held October 12-14 in New York with our top-rated Q Portland presenter — PIXAR, Disney, and Sony Story Advisor, Bobette Buster.
Watch Bobette explain the search for the "Big Idea" (0:52)
Bobette Buster has built and sustained a long, respected career in the film industry by being the best at finding and developing epiphanies throughout some of the greatest movies and stories you and I have enjoyed. But this talent goes far beyond film. It can influence the way we write books, songs, screen plays, marketing copy, funding proposals, research reports, sermons, and talks.
At the Crosby Street Screening Room in New York City, 75 church and cultural leaders will learn how to:
Analyze and rate cultural goods (film, music, books, talks, storytellers, etc.) by discovering their epiphany moments
Apply understanding of epiphany into their immediate projects
Harness the principles of storytelling for their particular context
Discover the epiphanies in their own story and have the tools to communicate them effectively
View their own transformation with a more conscious level of engagement and maturity
Employ Bobette's personal diagnostic tool for evaluating what ideas and projects have potential for greatness and which ones they should discard.
Epiphany will be transformational for writers, authors, entrepreneurs, pastors, marketers, journalists, corporate leaders, filmmakers, screenwriters, musicians, songwriters, video game designers, graphic designers, publishers, artists, and cultural leaders of any kind who have a voice to be heard and a story to tell.
Consider that the average cost of a USC film school Masters — comparable to other elite film programs around the world — totals around $100,000.
Professors in these schools work hard for years, earning their expertise and world class reputations. They have won the top awards worldwide in film and television (Oscars, Emmys, BAFTA, Goya, Cesars and Cannes Film Festival prizes). Most importantly, they report that one of the most valuable principles they learned is the same as you will learn in this Q Session:
How to better understand your audience and create epiphanies that connect through the power of narrative.
We hope you can join us. Space is extremely limited and will be granted on a first come, first-served basis. The best rate is available until August 31, 2011 at $675.

While so many conferences focus on having tons of speakers and on flashiness over substance, it's good to see you guys focus on education and high caliber authorities. The Epiphany event sounds great and I look forward to seeing more Sessions like this.

Denver, CO is also a great place for one of this exceptional times you are planning.

Would you be willing to host an Epiphany in Des Moines, Iowa for education? I believe that we are ripe here with Christians in the educational community who desire the common good, but need a time and place to come together. It would be a hub for those coming from Chicago, Minneapolis, Kansas City and Omaha as well.

I was at the Chicago Q and loved it, but thought at that time it would be awesome to bring great Christian thinkers together to talk about public schools at length. It's the need of the hour here.
