Venue
Civic Opera House
Every year, we enjoy the challenging process of finding a venue that suits the ethos of Q. We know
that “place” plays an important role to the Q experience; it shapes how we learn, reflects a rich history
and illuminates the culture of the city we inhabit.
This year, Q is eager to host our Chicago gathering at the widely respected Civic Opera House.
Located in the heart of downtown Chicago’s business and cultural center, the Civic Opera House has
stood as a city landmark since 1929. In a city known for its elaborate and detailed architecture, the
Civic Opera House ranks among the top, due to its unique exterior shape and blended Art Nouveau
and Art Deco designed interior. It was originally built and designed for the Civic Opera of Chicago and
has since been home to several opera companies before being bought as the permanent home of the
renowned Lyric Opera of Chicago. In addition to its opera specialty, the opera house has played host
to numerous Broadway shows and and a range of musical performances, from standards such as
Frank Sinatra to current favorites like Andrew Bird.
The Civic Opera House marks a return to the round-table seating format for Q Chicago, where we
strive to create the most conducive environment possible for discussion and collaboration among the
community of leaders present.
