Engaging Islam
by
Buddy Hoffman
Currently, roughly one in four humans is a Muslim and the religion of Islam is growing faster than any other world religion today. Its new worldwide dominance combined with predictions of future growth (largely based on birth rates alone) show Islam overtaking Christianity by 2035 in its total number of adherents. What is it about Islam that is so attractive to the spiritual seeker? Is there allowance within Islam to be a true follower of Jesus? And is it possible to share the Good News of Jesus to our Muslim friends through the Koran itself?

This guy is a dangerous, ignorant bigot. Flagellation is NOT practiced by moderate or progressive Muslims. I highly doubt if he has any deep friendships with Muslims or he would understand this. Like most ignorant people, he misinforms and spreads fear and feeds Islamophobia. I am disappointed that Q gives him a platform.

This is foolishness. Not because of what Jeff said, but because this man refuses to see that the Word of God is living and active and the gospel is the power unto Salvation, not a journey through the Qur'an. The Qur'an does not proclaim the gospel, even if it does have some nice passages about Jesus.

I must have listened to a different video. This was right on. Jeff, he in no way implicates all Muslims in the video. He simply uses it as a way to let people know that Islam has moved to America. Additionally you can't deny that there is a radical Muslim population like that in the video. He is not spreading fear but actually speaks against the woman who wants to just "kill them all". He speaks of caring about people, even Muslims.
Ellis, as to the use of the Quran, he made it clear that he is dedicated to the Bible as God's Word, but that doesn't mean we can't use other texts to reach people and get them thinking. The Apostle Paul preached a sermon in Athens and used a Greek poet as his foundational text. He did it to connect with his audience where they were in their thinking and get them thinking about who God really is. If you have done any evangelism among Muslims you would see that using their devotion to the Quran to point them to the Bible is common and effective. It may not contain the Gospel but it can be used to open doors to talk about the Gospel.
