Social Activism
by
Antonio Carlos Costa
What does activism look like in the life of a Christian? From Wilberforce to Martin Luther King Jr., there are a wide range of historic precedents to look to for wisdom. Should we expose the evil in the world by unapologetically throwing it the face of our cities or slowly and methodically working towards systemic solutions to the corruption we face? In Brazil, Antonio Carlos Costa has had to decide that for himself. And the result has been inspiring.

Antonio, you are on fire. Can anyone doubt that the courageous and creative work of your group is not a pure example of how Jesus would wish for his followers to respond to the horrors taking place in Rio?
May God bless and watch over Rio de Paz.

Dear Antonio, In case that anyone should think that Brazil and the social mores of it's society cannot touch their lives.Guerillmo Horatio Cipolla, a former member of the UN, and head of the IMO based in Rio for many years killed an innocent man in front of me. He had come to the US and we were dating. I refused a few times to go to Brazil with him because I know that women have no rights in the macho societies of SA. I left him and he stalked me and killed my fiance and injured me. He was held for 3 days in Mobile, AL. Because he was working for Ingalls Shipyard in the nuclear rearming of battleships, he was free for 2 yrs until he was tried and convicted of manslaughter. I revealed he had a duplicate passports but he was free for 2 yrs more on appeal. During this time, he contacted me asking me to move to as he had a job equipping Chavez's Navy. Authorities said they found his decomposing body and cremated it when they went to put him in jail. I do not believe it. This is the USA, political corruption is worldwide. As a Christian woman, the Brazilian reality of violence was inconceivable. I pray for your efforts to change the lives of Brazilians. God Bless You and Rio de Paz.
